TO FIND OUT THE AREA OF MASTUNG DISTRICT BY SQUARE GRID METHOD

(Supposition)

Square Grid Method - Forestrypedia

Hence the area can be calculated as under:

From fig we came to know the following information:

Number of Full squares: 144

Number of Half squares: 24 => 12

Number of Quarter squares: 16 => 4

Hence, Total number of squares = 160 —————————– (1)

Since the R.F. is 1: 16,000, therefore, the necessary calculations are as follows:

1:16,000

1 cm = 16, 000 cm

1cm2 = 16,000 cm * 16,000 cm

1cm2 = 256,000,000 cm2

1cm2 = 256,000,000 / 10,000 m2

1 cm2 = 25600 m2

1 cm2 = 25600 / 10,000 ha

1 cm2 = 2.56 ha

From equation number 1, it is clear that the total number of squares is 160, now to find out the area of the whole map, we have

Area of map = 2.56 ha * 160

Area of map = 153.6 ha
